AP-1 TDS and Temperature Meter Video Transcript
Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today we’re looking at the HM Digital AP-1.
Now, the AP-1 is a combination TDS and temperature meter. It comes from the factory pre-calibrated and has a range of 0 to 5,000 parts per million for total dissolved solids, and 32 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit for temperature. It also measures in the Celsius scale from 0 to 80 degrees Celsius.
It is very accurate with a plus or minus accuracy of 2% for either the TDS or the temperature reading. It has an auto shut-off feature after five minutes of non-use, and uses a single 3 volt button battery. And, for convenience, it is magnetic, so you can simply stick it to the fridge and never forget where it is.
Now, TDS meters are typically used by people who own reverse osmosis systems or some other type of either demineralizing or deionizing filter systems. And, you’ll use the meter to measure both the incoming water and the filtered water, and then do some simple math to verify the amount of reduction of your total dissolved solids.
But there are other people who will benefit from a TDS meter, especially those who do not have a filter system. You see, you have dissolved solids in your water, in fact there are many many things in your water that are dissolved solids. Now, many of them are harmless, but some of them are very nasty contaminants, and using a TDS meter will give you a gauge on your water quality.
Now let me zoom in here and show you this up close.
Again, this is the AP-1 from HM Digital, and I’m your host Tony the Filter Doctor.
Thanks for watching.
