American Plumber W50PEHD Pleated Polyester Sediment Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today we’re looking at the American Plumber W50PEHD. This is an industry standard size filter cartridge, approximately 10 inches in length and 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek HD950 and many more. Now, this unit is a 50 micron, pleated polyester sediment filter. It’s going to capture sediment approximately twice the size of a speck of milled flour. Now, in terms of a sediment filter, 50 microns is a very large pore size and rarely serves as a stand-alone filter. That would only work if you had extremely large size particulate that you were trying to capture. Typically, it serves as a pre-filter in a multi-stage system. So you’d use this 50 micron filter to capture large particulate and then you’d have a second or even a third stage capturing the smaller particles. This filter is perfect for untreated water because it’s bacteriostatic, meaning that microorganisms cannot live and grow on the filter media. And the polyester filter media is highly durable and can be washed and reused three to five times. You just gently run it under water and scrub between the pleats, don’t get out the power washer or anything like that, just gently wash it under running water, reinstall and you’re back in business. Now, filter life is going to depend on your unique circumstances, but is estimated at approximately 24,000 gallons, but if you have a heavy load of sediment or you use a great deal of water, you’ll certainly go through cartridges faster than someone who doesn’t have either of those conditions. So again, this is the American Plumber W50PEHD, a 50 micron, pleated polyester sediment filter, and I’m your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
