American Plumber W5CIP478 Carbon Impregnated Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today we’re looking at the American Plumber W5CIP478. This is an industry standard size set of cartridges that are 5 inches in length and 2 ½ inches in diameter. They’re typically used in marine and RV applications. Now, these filters are 5 micron, carbon impregnated, dual purpose filters. This is really essentially a glorified sediment filter with a small amount of carbon to deal with low level taste and odor issues. If your problem is serious or pronounced, this may not be the filter for you. Now, because it’s made from cellulose media it’s not appropriate for untreated water and should only be used on water that’s been chlorinated, ozonated, uv’ed, or that you’re otherwise confident does not have microorganisms living and growing in it because those microorganisms can live and grow on this cellulose media. Now, this filter will primarily deal with sediment, but it will also reduce chlorine taste and odor and a variety of organic and inorganic contaminants. Filter life is going to be approximately 2,500 gallons, and that’s going to depend heavily on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy contaminant load or you go through a great deal of water, you’ll certainly go through cartridges faster than someone that doesn’t have either of those conditions. Again, this is the American Plumber W5CIP478, and I’m your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
