Culligan RFC-BB Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the Culligan RFC-BB. You may know it by the model number on the package, the RFC-BBS. It also goes by Pentek part number 155141. This is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into many industry standard size whole house filter housings. Like, for example, the popular HD950. Now the RFC-BB is a 25 micron, radial flow, granular activated carbon cartridge. It sandwiches granular carbon between two layers of polypropylene, and this cartridge has significantly better flow rates and lower pressure loss than typical granular activated carbon cartridges, because of the unique radial flow design. It’s a great dual purpose cartridge because the outer layer captures sediment not allowing it to get into the GAC in the center, and the GAC is busy removing chlorine, so it’s great if you’ve got both a sediment problem and a chlorine problem.

Now filter life for this cartridge is going to depend on your unique circumstances, but it is rated for 30,000 gallons of chlorine reduction, so if you’re sediment filtering before this cartridge and the sediment doesn’t clog the cartridge, you’ll probably get a full 30,000 gallons out of it. But if it’s working to capture sediment by itself, you’ll probably get less than that 30,000 number. Again, this is the Culligan RFC-BB, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
