Doulton W9381000 Rio 2000 Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today we’re looking at the Doulton W9381000. It’s also known as the Rio 2000. This is Doulton’s six element, whole house filter system utilizing their Sterasyl ceramic filter elements. This system combines the surface area of six Sterasyl ceramic filter elements into a single cartridge that is designed to fit into industry standard size, 10 inch by 4 ½ inch filter housings, like for example the popular HD-950. Now, let me show you how this thing is assembled and then we’ll talk more about its’ features. Now, this system is designed to produce up to eight gallons per minute of filtered water. That’s going to depend somewhat on your unique pressure, but if you have good or above average pressure, you will be able to get approximately six to eight gallons per minute of filtered water out of this system. That’s more than enough for a medium sized home. Now, the system uses six of Doulton’s Sterasyl ceramic filter elements. Each of those filters features Doulton’s standard ceramic technology with imbedded silver. And this imbedding process is superior to the silver impregnating that many manufacturers use. Doulton’s unique technology imbeds the silver in the ceramic and keeps it there so that it won’t escape and get into your drinking water. And obviously, you don’t want it in your drinking water, but you do want the silver in the cartridge because it causes them to be self-sterilizing and bacteriostatic so that microorganisms cannot live and grow on this filter media. The ceramic is also very dense providing absolute filtration down to 0.9 microns. That will give you 99.99% reduction of microbial cysts like cryptosporidium and giardia, as well as the same level of protection from pathogenic bacteria like salmonella, e coli, and cholera. This filter cartridge will give you extremely safe water that you can trust. And the best feature of all is it’s highly reusable. These elements can be washed and reused up to fifty times. Now, that’s going to depend a lot on your unique circumstances and how rough you are on them when you clean them, but there are reports of these filters being washed that many times. They’ve provided this unique cleaning tool, and as you can see, it’s simply designed to slide up onto each of these elements. Now, I don’t want to harm these nice new elements, so I’m not going to do it now, but you simply slide it on the element, scrub up and down until the element returns to its’ original creamy white color, and then repeat, clean all of the elements, reinstall and your back in business getting extremely fine sediment removed from your water and removing deadly microorganisms. Again, this is the Doulton W9381000, also known as the Rio 2000, and I’m your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
