Standard Reverse Osmosis System Setups and Replacement Filters
There are many reverse osmosis systems that use standard replacement filters and membranes. If the system takes a standard size filter, it is usually approximately a 10" x 2.5" water filter.
To find compatible replacement filters and membranes for your system,
select the system that most closely matches the setup of your system from the standard RO system configurations below.
Note:
Not all system types are available below. The system configurations below are RO systems that will take standard replacement cartridges. Your system may require replacement filters and membranes that are not standard.
Definitions:
CTA Membrane: (Cellulose Tri-Acetate) CTA membranes are chlorine resistant. CTA membranes are less common than the TFC membranes.
TFM or TFC Membrane: (Thin Film Membrane or Thin Film Composite)
TFM membranes are NOT chlorine resistant. You MUST have a carbon filter prior to a TFM membrane. TFM membranes are a higher quality membrane. If you are unsure which type of membrane to choose, a TFM membrane is best.
Inline Filter / Polishing Filter: An inline filter or polishing filter is the final filter the water passes through before it reaches the faucet. This filter is optional, but recommended for the best tasting drinking water. This filter connects directly to the
water line and is not in a housing. It's usually the smallest filter.
