Food Grade Silicone Grease Video Transcript
Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today weíre looking at Food Grade Silicone Grease.
This is the stuff that you want to lubricate the O-rings on your filter housings. Hereís why. A lot of people use petroleum, Crisco, olive oil, WD-40, those are all very bad for your O-ring. Hereís why. Most of the time the O-ring is a petroleum product. A petroleum product will absorb other petroleum of hydrocarbon products.
So itís fine while itís sitting there in the filter housing but the first time you open it up to change cartridges the O-ring will pop out of the groove that itís supposed to sit in and it will never fit back in because itís grown, because itís absorbed those hydrocarbons. Food grade silicone grease will not do that to your O-ring.
Now, this is a 5 ounce tube, youíll see it sold in little ketchup sized packets too, and thatís nice for a one time use, but the beauty of this is it lasts forever , it doesnít go bad in the tube and youíve got it when you need it.
This is food grade silicone grease, the right stuff to use on your O-ring for your filter housing, and Iím your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com.
