- GE MSWF Water Filter Replacement Information:
- The GE MSWF refrigerator water filter should be replaced every six months or if your water has a bad taste or odor.
- Installing your new water filter:
- First, turn the used filter slightly in the counterclockwise direction.
- Second, remove the used filter by pulling it in the downward direction. The water will shut off automatically at this point.
- Third, fill the new filter with cold water and set the new filter where the used filter used to be. Push it towards the fridge until it cannot be pushed anymore.
- Fourth, twist the new filter onto the fridge by turning slightly in the clockwise direction.
- Fifth, run water through the filter for a minute or so to clear the air bubbles from the filter.
- As always, remember to mark the date at which you changed your filter and set a reminder to change your filter for sometime between 3 and 6 months depending on your water. Also, remember to push the “reset filter” button or the “filter replaced” button depending on the type of refrigerator.
