KX Matrikx 06-425-200-20 +Pb1 Lead Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today weíre looking at the KX Matrix 06-425-200-20, more commonly known as the +Pb1. Now, the +Pb1 is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 20 inches in length and 4 Ĺ inches in diameter, which means itís going to fit into a vast selection of industry standard size filter housings, like for example the one that you see here. Now, the +Pb1 is a 0.5 micron, carbon block designed for the reduction of turbidity, microbial cysts, and lead. And it does this by combining granular activated carbon with an ion exchange resin. Now, itís a carbon block, but they take the granular carbon, combine it with the ion exchange resin and put some binders in it and then they extrude it out into this block form. So it is capable of capturing insoluble and soluble lead from your water, which is very important if you own an older home or if youíre in an older facility of some kind where itís possible that the pipes have lead solder, which obviously escapes into the water and itís something that needs to be cared for. And lead, of course, occurs in nature, you can find lead in your well water and you may need to deal with it with a filter like this. This filter is NSF Standard 42 certified for the materials and construction, and NSF Standard 53 certified for the turbidity and the lead and the microbial cysts. This filter gives 99.9% reduction of microbial cysts like cryptosporidium and giardia. So if you have an untreated water source that you think has microbial cysts in it, this is the kind of filter that you need to go for. Now, in terms of filter life, it depends on what contaminant youíre removing from your water. At 0.5 microns this will capture extremely fine sediment and it could potentially clog very rapidly if you do not have the appropriate pre-filtration to capture that sediment before the water gets to this cartridge. But in terms of lead, youíre looking at about 17,000 gallons, and if you donít have lead and youíre only concerned with chlorine taste and odor, this will deliver a walloping 42,000 gallons of water. So, itís a great choice if you are merely concerned with chlorine taste and odor. Now, of course, all KX Matrix filters are manufactured in the good old USA and again, this is the KX Matrix 06-425-200-20, better known as the +Pb1. Iím your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
