Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the KX Matrix 06-425-200-975.
This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek HD-950 that you see here.
Now the 06-425-200-975, also known as the +PB1 is a 0.5 micron carbon block, combined with an ion exchange resin specifically designed to remove lead. That’s why this filter can remove lead; carbon normally doesn’t do it on its’ own, but when you put a special media in the carbon to assist in that process, it becomes possible.
So this filter will not only remove the heavy metal of lead, but also chlorine taste and odor, some VOC’s and it is NSF Standard 42 and 53 certified for the reduction of microbial cysts like cryptosporidium and giardia.
Now, all KX Matrix filters are made in the good old USA and your filter life will be approximately 8,000 gallons for lead reduction. But if you’re only concerned with chlorine removal, you’ll get a full 20,000 gallons out of this filter cartridge.
