Today I have Jeff Ryman with Katadyn products here. (J)The Vario is a dual filter pump that has both a pleated filter as well as a ceramic head. This will basically take care of any contaminants you have in your water source, bacteria cysts and treat the water.

(A)There’s a carbon filter in there, right?

(J)A carbon filter as well to take out chemicals and make the water palatable to drink.

(A)And it’s going to filter down to what 0.2 microns?

(J)Yep, the ceramic head is 0.2 microns and the pleated filter is 0.3 microns, so it will keep you nice and safe and improve the quality of the water that you’re going to drink.

(A)Well I’m getting soaked, so let’s do this.

(J)You ready Aquaman? So what we want to do here is, your clean source, keep that uncompromised from the contaminated water. So your intake goes right into the pond water here. This is a dual action pump so it will give you a very fast fill rate.

(A)Look at how disgusting that water is, there’s stuff growing in it.

(J)You can see the tracks where the birds have been down here.

(A)Oh nice, so there’s microorganisms from their dung, like cryptosporidium and giardia, and it’s all being filtered out by that filter. I can feel safe about drinking this!
