- The LG 5231JA2002A / LG LT500 Water Filter has a filter life of up to 6 months.
- The LG LT500P / LG 5231JA2002A water filter should be replaced sooner if you notice tastes and odors returning to your water, the water pressure is greatly decreasing, or the filter monitor light on the refrigerator has turned red (if included with refrigerator).

- Replacing the LG LT500P / LG 5231JA2002A Water Filter:
- First, twist the used filter off the fridge by turning slightly in the counterclockwise direction.
- Second, remove the used filter by pulling it in the downward direction. The water will shut off automatically at this point.
- Third, set the new filter where the used filter used to be. Push it towards the fridge until it cannot be pushed anymore.
- Fourth, twist the new filter onto the fridge by turning slightly in the clockwise direction.
- As always, remember to mark the date at which you changed your filter and set a reminder to change your filter for sometime between 3 and 6 months depending on your water. Also, remember to reset your filter change reminder light if your refrigerator has one. This can be done by holding the reset button for a few seconds.
