ORP-200 ORP Meter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the HM Digital ORP-200. Now, HM Digital is an ISO 9001 certified organization, which basically means they have to maintain extremely high standards in their manufacturing process. That translates for you and me to high quality products that you can trust. Now the ORP-200 is an oxidation reduction potential meter. Now that’s really complicated and there’s a lot of science there and if you didn’t pass chemistry in high school then you might want to change the channel. Basically, a high level of oxidation potential is good outside of the body, and that’s probably going to pertain to a sanitation solution or something that you want to kill microorganisms. Whereas a low oxidation reduction potential is good for human consumption, because a low ORP basically means a high level of antioxidants. We’ve all heard about the benefits of antioxidants in recent years. So, if it’s something that you’re measuring for drinking water, something that humans will consume, then you obviously want a low ORP. But if it’s something in a commercial or an industrial application, where you’re testing the quality of a sanitizing solution, you want a high ORP. So, there are a variety of applications in which this meter can be used, and those of you who are looking for one probably already know exactly what you’re looking for. Just in case someone’s out there looking and you’re not sure how you use this, it can be used in agricultural situations, aquariums, chlorine monitoring, in cooling tower disinfecting, drinking water, environmental situations, hydroponics, metal finishing, the monitoring of ozonating systems. Ozone can be used to disinfect water and the oxidation reduction potential of an ozone system is important. Bleaching pools and spas, wineries and vineyards and a variety of water treatment applications. This system comes with the proper storage solution and a lanyard so you can throw it around neck or around your wrist and not drop it. It is 100% waterproof and in fact will float if dropped in water. It has a range of negative 999 to positive 1,000 millivolts; the measurement, of course, is in millivolts. It has an accuracy of plus or minus 2 millivolts and the sensor is a glass sensor with a platinum reference cell. Now that’s important, a platinum reference cell is extremely high quality, much better quality than either a carbon or graphite reference cell which are in some other ORP meters from other manufacturers. This is a high quality product; it’s professional grade. The electrode is replaceable. You can expect approximately a year life out of the electrode and then it will need to be replaced, and replacements are available. Again, this is the HM Digital ORP-200, an oxidation reduction potential meter, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
