Pentek #10 Standard Valve In Head Whole House Water Filter Housing:
The Pentek 150164 #10 VIH standard whole house water filtration housing is tested and Certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material and structural integrity requirements.
The Valve In Head simplifies changing filters. Simply turn the valve on the housing to stop the water through the housing and change the filter. You do not need to purchase and install separate shut-off valves.

The Pentek 150164 housing has a pressure-relief/bleed button on the inlet side of cap.
The Pentek 150164 #10 Standard filter housing can use a wide variety of filters. Both Sediment and Carbon Drinking water filters can be used in this housing.
The #10 VIH Filter Housing fits 2-3/8" to 2-7/8" diameter filter cartridges which makes it ideal for a variety of applications.

#10 VIH Standard Whole House Housing Tips:
For many applications, it makes sense to install two whole house housings. The first housing is for sediment reduction. The second housing is for the carbon filter to improve taste and odor and reduce additional contaminants. By installing the sediment filter first, the carbon filter will last longer because it does not get clogged with sediment. Since carbon filters are more expensive, it is better to have the sediment filter first that needs to be replaced more often.
If you have a lot of sediment in your water, you may want to consider three housings. The first two housings are for sediment reduction. The first housing contains a higher micron sediment filter and the second housing contains a lower micron sediment filter. The third housing is for the carbon taste and odor water filter. An example application is the first housing containing a P25 filter, the 2nd housing containing a P5 filter, and the 3rd housing containing a carbon filter such as the GAC-10.

The water filter cartridge is not included with the housing. This allows you to purchase the best water filter for your water supply.
The water filter cartridge life depends on the water filter cartridge purchased, the quality of your water, and the amount of water used. You will know when to change the filter cartridge when your water pressure drops.

Recommended Parts & Accessories:
Replacement OR-34 O-Rings. One o-ring is included with the housing purchase, but you should replace the o-ring periodically to prevent leaks.
Use silicone grease to lubricate the o-rings to prevent leaking.
Use the SW-2 housing wrench to remove the sump. The wrench should NOT be used to tighten the sump back onto the cap. Over tightening may cause damage to the o-ring.
Use a single UB-1 stainless steel mounting bracket to mount the whole house housing.

Easy to install #10 Standard VIH Whole House Water Filter System. The housing is 12-1/2" x 5-1/8" (318 mm x 130 mm). You will need to allow slightly more room in addition to the housing dimensions for installation.
3/4" inlet/outlet for easy installation on a cold water line.
A UB-1 mounting bracket is recommended for installation of the whole house housing.
NOTE: When installed, protect housing against freezing to prevent cracking of the filter and water leakage.
