Welcome to the Pentek C-1 Carbon Filter Video Page. The Pentek C-1 is a 5 micron Dual Purpose Powdered-Activated Carbon Water Filter Cartridge. It reduces fine sediment, chlorine taste and odor, and produce healthier, better-tasting drinking water. The Pentek C1 water filters are recommended for chlorinated water supplies only. The Ametek C1 cartridges offer an economical solution for your general-purpose water filtration needs. C1 filters are constructed of a carbon impregnated cellulose media. The Pentek C-1 water filter has a polyester reinforced backing and external netting that provides additional strength and dirt-loading capacity. These US Filter C-1 water filter dual-purpose cartridges are well suited for a wide range of residential applications and make excellent polishing filters when used in process or closed-loop streams.

Hey everyone; Aquaman here with Water Wisdom sponsored by WaterFilters.NET. Today we’re talking about the Pentek C-1. This is an industry standard size cartridge, ten inch long, two and a half inch in diameter. This is cellulose, carbon impregnated media. So, you’ve got a cellulose fibrous structure and they take carbon dust and they impregnate it throughout that media. It’s really a combination of a sediment filter and a carbon filter, but it has very little carbon compared to say a carbon block, or a full fledged granular activated carbon filter, but it has some. So, for applications where you want sediment removal, but you also want some taste and odor improvement as well, this is a good filter to choose. It’s not appropriate for well water applications, because cellulose media will allow bacteria to grow and thrive on it, and with well water, any untreated water for that matter, there’s always the potential for microorganisms, and if you have them and they get trapped on this filter, they will think of this filter as a wonderful buffet of food. So you don’t want to use this in untreated water applications. It’s perfect for those of you who are unfortunately stuck with a small filter housing in a whole house application, because you might want to use a carbon filter, but if you’ve ever tried it, if you’ve tried like a five micron carbon block or a granular activated carbon in a small housing that takes this size cartridge, you are probably restricting your water flow dramatically and you probably didn’t like the results of it. I get a lot of phone calls about that from clients. This filter again, it’s not going to be as much carbon as a carbon block, but it’s something. It’s perfect for those small housings where you don’t want to restrict the flow with a carbon filter, but you still want some of the benefits of carbon. So this is the Pentek C-1. It’s good to 125 degrees Fahrenheit, chlorine taste and odor primarily what it’s about, but also sediment down to five microns. I’m your host Aquaman and thanks for watching.
