Pentek CC-10 Coconut Carbon Filter Video Transcript
Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the Pentek CC-10.
This filter is a 20 micron, coconut shell, granular activated carbon or GAC cartridge. It uses coconut carbon which is superior to bituminous carbon in at least two ways. One, it produces better tasting water, and it has higher contaminant removal rates. In fact Pentek’s internal testing of the CC-10 revealed a 92% reduction of MTBE’s; that’s methyl tertiary butyl ether, a nasty by-product of fuel production, and a 98% reduction of chloroform, a VOC.
It’s got a filter life of about 7,500 gallons if you’re only removing chlorine and sediment. But, if you’re removing those high level contaminants like VOC’s then the filter life is significantly shorter, approximately 400 gallons.
