Pentek DGD-2501 Sediment Filter Video

Welcome to the Pentek DGD-2501 Sediment Filter Video Page. The Pentek DGD-2501 water filter utilizes gradient density layers that improve cartridge performance. The Pentek DGD-2501 filter cartridge has a 25 micron pre-filter layer and a 1 micron extra-fine sediment layer. The DGD2501 water filters reduce the need for multiple housing step-down systems. The Pentek DGD-2501 filter reduces sand, extra-fine dirt, silt, sediment, and rust & scale particles. The Pentek DGD2501 water filters are 100% polypropylene which is resistant to chemicals, corrosion, and bacteria. The Pentek DGD-2501 will not impart taste, odor, or color to the filtered liquid and has three times the dirt-holding capacity of similar sized sediment water filter cartridges.

Hey everyone; Aquaman here with Water Wisdom sponsored by WaterFilters.NET. Todayís product is the Pentek DGD-2501. Now this is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 4.5 inches in diameter. Now, the DGD stands for Dual Gradient Density. It means it starts out at a more porous density on the outside and becomes more dense as you approach the center. So the sediment is trapped throughout the depth of this filter. Now this one starts out at 25 microns on the outside and works its way down to 1 micron in the center. Thatís an extremely tight filter. Itís going to capture a number of particulate sizes; anything larger than a speck of milled flour, which measures 25 microns in size, will be captured by something like this. It has a cousin thatís very commonly used; the DGD-5005 is just slightly more porous. Some of the advantages of polypropylene; the primary one being that it is bacteriostatic. Microorganisms cannot live and grow on this media, so this is appropriate to use on water sources that are untreated. So, if youíre filtering well water, if youíre drawing water from a lake or a pond or if youíre collecting rain water into a cistern, you can filter that water with a filter like this because the microorganisms that will inevitably be in that untreated water cannot live and grow on this media. Itís very similar to an older style filter called a poly string wound which looks like the same color, but it looks like a spool of string. Itís the exact same media; itís just manufactured in a different way. This, the polypropylene is shot out of a gun and spooled into a cartridge like cotton candy, whereas the other is woven into a string and then the string is spooled onto a cartridge. So this is the DGD-2501 from Pentek; perfect for sediment filtration in any untreated water source. Iím your host Aquaman; thanks for watching!
