Pentek DGD-2501 Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the Pentek DGD-2501. Now the 2501 is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into many whole house filter housings, like for example, the popular HD950. Now the DGD-2501 is a gradient density, spun polypropylene sediment filter. Now gradient density means the cartridge begins at 25 microns on the exterior and becomes increasingly dense to the center of the cartridge, down to 1 micron. Now 1 micron is extremely dense and it’s not going to be appropriate for every situation. It’s going to be a unique circumstance that requires the removal of something that is twenty-five times smaller than a speck of milled flour. So be sure you know what you’re getting into when you get a micron density that tight. Now the polypropylene media is bacteriostatic, making it perfect for untreated water sources, because microorganisms cannot live and grow on this filter media. So if you’re pulling water out of a lake or stream, or a rainwater cistern, for example, something that could have microorganisms in it this is the type of filter you should be using. Polypropylene is also highly resistant to chemical attack making this cartridge a great choice for industrial and commercial applications. Now filter life is difficult to estimate because it’s going to depend on your unique circumstances. If you have a high level of sediment and you use a great deal of water, you’re going to have significantly less filter life than someone who doesn’t have that much sediment and doesn’t use that much water. It’s very difficult to estimate, it’s going to depend on your unique circumstances. Again, this is the Pentek DGD-2501, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
