Pentek DGD-5005-20 Video Transcript
Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today weíre looking at the Pentek DGD-5005-20.
This is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 20 inches long by 4 Ĺ inches in diameter. This means itís going to fit into many standard whole house filter housings, like the very popular 20BB, commonly known as the Big Blue.
Now the DGD-5005-20 is a gradient density spun polypropylene. Now gradient density means that it starts at 50 microns on the outside, and becomes increasingly dense to the center of the cartridge, down to 5 microns. Now 5 microns is about five times smaller than a speck of milled flour, so itís going to capture some very small particles, making it perfect for sediment capture.
Now polypropylene is also bacteriostatic, making it perfect for untreated water sources because microorganisms cannot live and grow on this filter media. So if youíre filtering water that is not treated, if youíre pulling water out of a lake or a river or pond or from a rainwater cistern, this is the kind of filter you should be using.
Itís also highly resistant to chemical attack, making it a great choice for industrial and commercial applications.
Now filter life is going to depend uniquely on your circumstances. If you have a great deal of sediment and you use a lot of water, you may only get maybe three months or 8,000 gallons out of this cartridge. But if you donít have that much sediment and youíre not using that much water, you might get six, even nine months out of this cartridge. Itís really going to depend on your circumstances.
Again, this is the Pentak DGD-5005-20, and Iím your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com.
