Pentek ECP1-20 Sediment Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today weíre looking at the Pentek ECP1-20. Now, the ECP1-20 is an industry standard size filter cartridge, approximately 20 inches in length and 2 Ĺ inches in diameter, this means itís going to fit into a vast selection of industry standard size filter housings, like for example the one that you see here. Now, the ECP1-20 is a 1 micron, polyester reinforced pleated cellulose sediment filter. The polyester fibers that are woven throughout the cellulose media give it added strength and durability, which equals longer filter life. And at 1 micron, this is an extremely tight filter, perfect for capturing extra fine sediment. But, beware, if you have large particle sediment mingled in with your extra fine sediment, which is fairly common, you will probably need to pre-filter before the water gets to this cartridge or you may clog it very rapidly. It really depends on your unique circumstances. Now, because the ECP1-20 is a cellulose media itís only appropriate for treated water sources, because microorganisms can live and grow on this filter media. So you only want to use this cartridge on water thatís been chlorinated, ozonated, uvíed, or that youíre otherwise confident does not have microorganisms living and growing in it. Now, concerning filter, as is the case with most sediment filters, itís very difficult to determine filter life because it really depends entirely on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy load of sediment and you use a great deal of water, you will certainly go through cartridges much faster than someone who doesnít have either of those conditions. The best way to determine filter life is simply to install one and then pay close attention to the filter life, and make a note at the number of days or the number of gallons that the filter lasted. Then next time you change cartridges, youíll have a reference point for that new cartridge when you install it. Again, this is the Pentek ECP1-20, a 1 micron, polyester reinforced pleated cellulose sediment filter. Iím your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
