Pentek ECP50-10 Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the Pentek ECP50-10. This is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 2 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek 158642 that you see here. Now the ECP50-10 is a 50 micron pleated cellulose sediment filter. Now, 50 microns is about twice the size of a speck of milled flour, so this is not appropriate for fine sediment capture. This serves great as a pre-filter, but if you have fine sediment, you need to follow up with something at 5 microns or 1 micron after you pre-filter with this 50 micron filter cartridge. It’s only appropriate for treated water because bacteria and microorganisms can live and grow on this media. So water that’s ozonated, uv’ed, chlorinated or that you’re otherwise confident does not have microorganisms living and growing in it. Filter life is difficult to determine, because it’s going to depend on your unique circumstances. Nothing would make me happier than to sit here and tell you how many gallons this filter will be good for, but if I did that, I’d be lying to you. It’s going to depend on your unique circumstances. Someone who has a heavy load of sediment and uses a great deal of water, is going to go through this filter much faster than someone with a low level of sediment and not using much water. You’ll simply need to install it and learn from experience approximately how long their good for or how many gallons they last. Again, this is the Pentek ECP50-10, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
