Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today weíre looking at the Pentek EPM-20. Now, this is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 20 inches long by 2 Ĺ inches in diameter, which means itís going to fit into a vast selection of industry standard size filter housings, like the one you see here. Now, the EPM-20 is a 10 micron modified epsilon carbon block. Modified epsilon just means this filter has a larger porosity structure, which allows for greater flow with less pressure loss. They do this so that the filter will not clog before the carbon is truly exhausted. In fact thatís one of Pentekís primary concerns with a carbon block. Thatís why theyíve wrapped the entire outside with Endurawrap. Itís a polyolefin bi-laminate that captures sediment so that the sediment wonít clog the carbon block before the carbon is truly exhausted. The filter is NSF Standard 42 certified for materials and itís 100% manufactured from FDA approved materials. Itís also good for high temperature applications up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, though if you use it in a high temp application you canít use a regular filter housing like this, you need a special high temp housing. Now, Pentek internal testing certifies this filter is good for 6,000 gallons of chlorine taste and odor reduction and, of course, carbon is going to remove a long list of other organic and inorganic contaminants.
