Pentek GAC-BB Carbon Filter Video Transcript
Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the Pentek GAC-BB.
This is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into many standard filter housings. One of the most common would be the HD950.
Now the GAC-BB is a 20 micron, axial flow, granular activated carbon cartridge. Axial flow means that the water enters at the bottom through these slots and is forced to rise through the entire bed of media before it exits at the top. This increases contact time and therefore gives greater contaminant removal but the drawback is that it increases the pressure loss and flow restriction. So this filter is not appropriate for whole house applications; for those situations look to the RFC-BB.
Now as a carbon filter, it would serve great as a drinking water filter or as a polishing filter in an industrial reverse osmosis system. There are lots of ways in which it can be used, just not those high flow applications.
Filter life is going to be about 12,000 gallons depending on the amount of chlorine in the water.
Again, this is the Pentek GAC-BB, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com.
Thanks for watching.
