Pentek NCP-20 Dual Purpose Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today weíre looking at the Pentek NCP-20. Now, the NCP-20 is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 20 inches in length and 2 Ĺ inches in diameter, this means itís going to fit into a vast selection of industry standard size filter housings, like for example the one that you see here. Now, the NCP-20 is a 10 micron, carbon impregnated polyester dual purpose filter. I say dual purpose because the polyester will obviously capture sediment down to 10 microns, which is about half the size of a speck of milled flour. And it also has carbon impregnated into that polyester media, so it will remove a limited amount of taste and odor issues. But, beware; if you have a heavy taste and odor issue, if you have a severe taste and odor problem, this is not the filter for you. Thereís very little carbon in this filter and itís not going to work for serious problem water. This is for people who have a sediment problem and a minor taste and odor issue. This is polyester media so itís perfect for untreated water because itís bacteriostatic and microorganisms cannot live and grow on this filter. Determining filter life is difficult, because as is common to most sediment filters, it really depends entirely on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy load of sediment and you use a great deal of water, you will certainly go through filters much faster than someone who doesnít have either of those conditions. Really the best way to determine filter life is simply to install one and then pay close attention to the filter life. With this filter, youíre looking for either a drop in pressure due to it clogging with sediment or the taste and odor issue coming back to life in your water, which means the carbon is exhausted in this filter. In either case, when that happens, make a note of it and then the next time you change cartridges, youíll have a reference point. Again, this is the Pentek NCP-20, a 10 micron, carbon impregnated polyester dual purpose filter, and Iím your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
