Pentek R50-BB Sediment Filter Video

Welcome to the Pentek R50-BB Sediment Filter Video Page. The Pentek R50-BB replacement filter cartridge has durable polyester media that is bacteria and chemical resistant, so it can be used on chlorinated or non-chlorinated water supplies. The Ametek R50-BB sediment water filter is manufactured from a durable, non-woven and reusable polyester fabric that is suitable for a wide range of filtration uses. The Pentek R50-BB water filter media is pleated around a polypropylene core for added strength and the ends are immersed in a thermo-setting vinyl plastisol. Embedding and sealing each end of the pleat in this fashion fuses the three components together forming a unitized end cap and gasket. The overlap seam is sonically welded to reduce internal bypass improving filtration efficiency. The Pentek R50-BB filter cartridge media is pleated to maximize dirt-holding capacity and extend the time period between changes or cleaning.

Pentek R50-BB Sediment Filter Video Transcript:

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with Water Wisdom sponsored by WaterFilters.NET. Today's video is about the Pentek R50-BB. This is a pleated, non-cellulose polyester cartridge. The beauty of polyester is that, unlike pleated cellulose, it is not susceptible to micro-organism contamination. It's bacteriostatic media, so you can use it in your untreated water. It gives you better flow, and less pressure drop than a poly-spun or poly-string wound cartridge. And, best of all, its reusable. Now, it's not infinitely reusable, and after each reuse there will be a slight degradation in filtration quality, but generally speaking you are going to get 3-5 reuses from this filter. So, itís more expensive up front but, when you calculate the reuses, it's a more economical filter than even pleated cellulose or poly-spun. This one is a 50 micron, and that's about as porous a filter as you can get. Now I've seen some other sediment filters available in a 100 micron, but that's pretty rare. 50 micron is about as big a pore as you can get. So it's great as the first filter in a multi stage filter series. So you get the big sediment, the big particles, things that are about twice the size of a speck of milled flour, will be captured by this filter. And then, obviously, the next cartridge would be tighter, maybe 20 microns, maybe even 5 microns and then a carbon cartridge. This will take out the larger particles, so the other filters are not challenged with that kind of sediment, and it's reusable. Take it out, spray it off with a garden hose or wash it in a bucket with a brush gently, don't go crazy and use a power washer, youíll just blow a hole through it, and then put it back in and reuse it, and youíre back in business. It's a great filter for that and gives you the performance of a pleated cartridge without the microorganism problems. So you can use it on treated or untreated water. This is the Pentek R50-BB. And I'm your host Aquaman. Thanks for watching.
