Pentek ROM-230TN Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the Pentek ROM-230TN. You may also know it as the ROM-230T or as the 155854-01. This membrane has been around a very long time so it fits in many systems. Let me give you a few. It fits in the Pentek RO3000 and RO3500. It also fits in the American Plumber WRO3000 and WRO3500.

Now this is just a standard reverse osmosis system membrane. It does what membranes do, it removes total dissolved solids. And there’s just a vast array of things in your water that are total dissolved solids, some of them really nasty, and some of them pretty much harmless. But this will remove 95 plus percent of all of them. Now a couple of things you need to think about. When you change your membrane, they have provided a silicone lubricant for you. This is important that you use this, particularly on this big black rubber seal around the outside of the membrane. It’s called the brine seal. It’s vital that this is lubricated because if it becomes crimped or does not seat properly in the membrane housing, because you didn’t lubricate it right, then water will bypass the membrane and you’ll be getting unpurified water at the tap. Now knowing when to change your membrane, well you can use a rule of thumb of change it every two years, or if you feel like being scientific, get yourself a TDS meter. If the membrane is not removing at least 80% of your TDS then it needs to be replaced. So this is the Pentek ROM-230TN, also known as the ROM-230T or the 155854-01. I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
