Pentek S1-BB Sediment Filter Video

Welcome to the Pentek S1-BB Sediment Filter Video. The S1-BB is a 20 micron sediment filter designed to provide more durability than average cellulose water filters. Also known as the 155405, the S1-BB is perfect for treated water supplies, but should not be used on untreated water.

Pentek S1-BB Sediment Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with Water Wisdom sponsored by WaterFilters.NET.. Today's product is the Pentek S1-BB. This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 4.5 inches in diameter. It fits inside of your 10 inch big blue filter housing, 10 inch big clear, HD-950 and many other industry standard size water filter housings. It's nothing more than a basic sediment filter. This one's rated for 20 microns, so just tight enough to capture a speck of milled flour which is 25 microns in size, capture anything larger than 20 microns. Now, what makes this filter slightly different than you ordinary run off the mill pleated cellulose cartridge is that the, pleated material is resin impregnated, and that just makes it a little more sturdy, and it can stand up to higher flow rates, and pulsating on/off, on/off water. Sometimes in really bad situation it's called water hammer, where there is a sort of vibrating, pulsating action, that really rips away at this media and requires something a little more durable. And that's what you get when you have this resin-impregnated cellulose. A plain cellulose would just fall apart under those circumstances. It also has a very sturdy, poly-propylene core, throughout the center column, down all way through. That just gives it the durability factor that some of the other regular pleated cellulose filters don't have. It has vinyl plastisol end caps, so the pleated material is literally dipped into the liquid plastisol, sealing off the entire end, so that you’re not going to get any bypass of the water around the pleats. Everything that gets through, is going to go through the filter media. 20 microns, cellulose, so it's not appropriate for untreated water because it's still susceptible to micro organism contamination, so you only want to use this on treated, chlorinated, maybe water that has been UV’d, some water that you know does not have micro organisms in it. That is the Pentek-S1-BB, just a standard basic sediment filter. I’m your host Aquaman and thanks for watching.
