Pentek WP-5BB97P String Wound Sediment Filter Video

Pentek WP-5BB97P Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today weíre looking at the WP.5BB97P. This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 4 Ĺ inches in diameter, which means itís going to fit into a whole host of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek HD950 that you see here. Now, the WP.5BB97P is a 0.5 micron, polypropylene string wound sediment filter. Itís perfect for untreated water sources because itís bacteriostatic and microorganisms cannot live and grow on this filter media. Itís also highly resistant to chemical attack, making it a great choice for commercial and industrial applications. However, if youíre in a commercial or industrial application where you require very low or absolute zero extractables, you need to look to the WPX Series of filters from Pentek, because those are a fibrillated cartridge and better for that unique circumstance. The rest of you will be fine with the regular WP Series. Now, this is good up to 165 degrees Fahrenheit, so you can use it in high temp applications, but make a note; you cannot use a regular filter housing, youíll need a special high temp filter housing for high temp applications. But you can use it in those circumstances. Now, determining filter life is really difficult because itís going to depend on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy load of sediment and you use a great deal of water, youíll certainly go through these cartridges faster than someone who doesnít have much sediment and doesnít use much water. Now, a 0.5 micron porosity is extremely tight, so this is a great choice for extremely fine sediment, but donít put this filter in as the only filter if you have a heavy load of sediment, because the large particles will very rapidly clog the filter. You need to pre-filter with something, maybe a 50 micron, maybe a 25 micron, it depends on your situation, but if you have a heavy load of sediment and you use this filter alone, it will clog very rapidly. Again, this is the WP.5BB97P, a 0.5 micron, polypropylene string wound sediment filter, and Iím your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
