Pentek WP25BB97P String Wound Sediment Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today weíre looking at the WP25BB97P. This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 4 Ĺ inches in diameter, which means itís going to fit into one of the many industry standard size filter housings that are available. Like, for example, the popular Pentek HD950 that you see here. Now, the WP25BB97P is a 25 micron, polypropylene string wound sediment filter. Itís perfect for untreated water sources because itís bacteriostatic, meaning microorganisms cannot live and grow on this filter media. And polypropylene is highly resistant to chemical attack, making it a great choice for commercial and industrial applications. However, those of you with commercial and industrial applications that require very low or absolute zero extractables; you need to look to the WPX Series of filters from Pentek, because those use a fibrillated polypropylene more suited to your unique circumstances. Those of you that have that situation probably know what Iím talking about. The rest of you will do great with the WP Series. Now, these are good up to 165 degrees Fahrenheit, so you can use them in high temp applications, however, you will not be able to use a regular filter housing, you need a special high temp filter housing. But, if you have high temp water, you can look to the WP Series for those circumstances. Now, determining filter life is really difficult, because itís going to depend on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy load of sediment and you use a great deal of water, youíll certainly go through these cartridges faster than someone who doesnít have much sediment and doesnít use much water. Youíll probably need to learn from experience approximately how long they last and how many gallons theyíre good for. Now, 25 microns is about the size of a speck of milled flour, so this is not the best choice to remove fine sediment. But you could certainly use this as a pre-filter before a 5 micron or a 1 micron cartridge in a series designed to remove a variety of sizes of sediment. Again, this is the Pentek WP25BB97P, a 25 micron, polypropylene string wound sediment filter, and Iím your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
