Pentek WPX5BB97P Fibrillated Polypropylene Sediment Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com. Today we’re looking at the Pentek WPX5BB97P. This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek HD950 that you see here. Now, the WPX5BB97P is a 5 micron, polypropylene fibrillated, string wound sediment filter. Now, this fibrillated quality distinguishes the WPX Series from Pentek’s WP Series of polypropylene string wound sediment filters. The WPX Series has this fibrillated quality, which is only important for those of you in industrial and commercial applications, where you require extremely low or absolute zero extractables. If you’re in that circumstance you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t have that concern, then the WP Series filters will work great for you. Now, this is a polypropylene media so it’s perfect for untreated water because it’s bacteriostatic, meaning microorganisms cannot live and grow on this filter media. And it’s highly resistant to chemical attack, another good reason for using it in industrial and commercial applications. It also has a very high temperature tolerance of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course, you’ll need a special high temperature housing, unlike this one, but if you need a high temperature filter this will work great in that application. Now, 5 microns is about 5 times smaller than a speck of milled flour, so really fine sediment will be captured by this filter. And determining filter life is completely impossible, not knowing your unique circumstances. You see, your unique circumstances; how much sediment you have in your water, how much water you’re using on a daily, weekly, monthly basis, is going to have a huge impact on the life of this filter cartridge. You’re probably going to need to install them and simply learn through experience approximately how long or how many gallons they’re good for. Again, this is the Pentek WPX5BB97P, a fibrillated polypropylene, string wound sediment filter, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
