The Doulton W9123053 UltraCarb Filter Candle features a Sterasyl ceramic outer shell and carbon block core with ATS resin. Candles have a domed end and a plastic mount on the top to fix them into the filter housing. W9123053 cleanable filter elements are designed to remove suspended solids, pathogenic bacteria, hydrogen sulphide, and lead. In addition, they will improve taste and reduce trace contaminants. At the heart of every Doulton ceramic filter is the Sterasyl silver-impregnated ceramic microfilter. The Doulton W9123053 features silver locked within the ceramic structure which inhibits the growth of bacteria and gives the ceramics self-sterilizing properties. Doulton ceramics do not remove the beneficial minerals from the water, ensuring The filtered water is enjoyable to drink and yet safe from harmful impurities. The Doulton UltraCarb Ceramic Filter Candle is a self-sterilizing filter with submicron filtration at an economical cost! The Doulton Ultracarb W9123053 features ultra carbon, is silver-impregnated, and has a carbon block + metallic media core. The W9123053 has four filtration stages within a single candle and is fitted with a threaded plastic cap on one end. First Stage: The first stage consists of Doulton ultracarb ceramic which provides genuine submicron filtration. The cartridge reduces fine particulate matter, bacteria, cysts and turbidity. Second stage: The incorporation of silver locked within the ceramic structure gives enhanced bacteriostatic and self-sterilizing properties. Third Stage: An inner core of activated carbon block removes chlorine and organic compounds. Fourth Stage: Ion exchange resin reduces Lead and other heavy metals. The Ultracarb filter candle is designed to be used in pressure filters. Not for gravity filter use. The Doulton Ultracarb W9123053 Ceramic Filter is certified by NSF and the WHO.

Ceramic Filter Benefits

Ceramic filters use the natural small pore size of their material to filter contaminants out of your water, Doulton has combined ceramic filter methods with advanced media options like granular activated carbon and heavy metal reduction media to provide filter candles that reduce a wide range of contaminants from your water.

User Guide

Instructions

  1. The ceramic shell of the water filter is designed to filter fine particles, bacteria and other contaminants from your water. The ceramic shell can eventually need cleaning. When this occurs, simply remove, clean and replace the cartridge
  2. Wash your hands with filtered water
  3. Remove the ceramic cartridge according to the instructions of your particular filter housing (handle with care, wet cartridges are fragile!)
  4. Take a clean scouring pad, or slightly abrasive cloth, and give the ceramic a light scrub under running water
  5. Apply gentle pressure uniformly. This will remove surface particles from the water filter as well as an outer layer of ceramic, restoring and refreshing the water filter to its original water flow
  6. Replace cartridge in filter housing. Wash hands thoroughly after handling the ceramic cartridge
  7. Important: Care must be taken at all times to prevent contamination of the end of the cartridge mount from unfiltered water and/or dirty hands from cleaning the cartridge surface
  8. Do not use soap or detergents. Cleaning can be done over 50 times before replacement of the water filter cartridge will be necessary
  9. The carbon core, more than likely, will become exhausted before the outer ceramic layer begins to thin, unless you are filtering sediment heavy water, and cleaning is done often
