American Plumber WGC478 Granular Activated Carbon Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today we’re looking at the American Plumber WGC478. This is an industry standard size filter cartridge, approximately 5 inches in length and 2 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast selection of industry standard size filter housings, especially those that are typically used in RV and marine applications. Now, this unit is a 20 micron, axial flow granular activated carbon filter, and this filter is perfect for typical drinking water systems, because the axial flow design maximizes contact time with the carbon filter media. And contact time equals contaminant reduction. You see, axial flow filters work with the water entering the slots at the bottom of the cartridge, and then rising up through the entire bed of media before they exit the filter at the top and go to your drinking water faucet. That process forces the water to have significant contact time with the filter media and contact time is good because it means greater contaminant reduction. In fact, this filter is going to reduce chlorine taste and odor, and a broad spectrum of organic and inorganic contaminants, as well as sediment down to about 20 microns. This is going to give you great tasting healthy water. Now filter life for this unit is approximately 250 gallons or 3 months, whichever comes first. But that’s going to depend heavily on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy contaminant load or you use a great deal of water, you will certainly go through filters faster than someone who doesn’t have either of those conditions. Again, this is the American Plumber WGC478, a 20 micron, axial flow granular activated carbon filter used in many RV and marine applications. I’m your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
