Aqua-Pure AP814-2 Sediment Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today we’re looking at the Aqua-Pure AP814-2. This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 20 inches in length by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast selection of industry standard size filter housings, like for example the one that you see here. Now, the AP814-2 is a 50 micron, polypropylene string wound sediment filter. At 50 microns it will capture sediment approximately twice the size of a speck of milled flour. This is not the filter of choice if you’re dealing with extra fine sediment. Now, it could serve as a pre-filter in a multi-stage system where you ultimately end up capturing extra fine sediment, but this cartridge itself is going to capture large particulate only. So depending on your unique circumstances, you may want to use this as a pre-filter or it could be a stand-alone filter only to capture large particles. Now, because it is manufactured from 100% polypropylene, it is bacteriostatic so that microorganisms cannot live and grow on the media, and that makes it a perfect choice for untreated water sources. It is highly resistant to chemical attack, making it a perfect choice for industrial and commercial applications, and it can resist high temperatures up to about 165 degrees Fahrenheit, another good reason to use it in industrial and commercial applications. Now, determining filter life is very difficult, because as is typical to most sediment filters, it really depends on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy load of sediment or you use a great deal of water, you will certainly go through cartridges faster than someone who doesn’t have either of those conditions. The best way to determine filter life is simply to install one and then pay close attention to filter life. When the filter becomes exhausted, make a note of the number of gallons or the amount of time that the cartridge lasted, and then at least the next time you’ll have a reference point. Again, this is the Aqua-Pure AP814-2, a 50 micron, polypropylene string wound sediment filter. I’m your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
