Doulton W9361122 Stainless Steel Gravity Filter System Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here. Today we’re looking at the Doulton W9361122. This is Doulton’s stainless steel gravity fed filter system. Now, the W9361122 is manufactured from polished stainless steel and features two seven inch Super Sterasyl ceramic filter elements. Now the Super Sterasyl elements feature Doulton’s standard ceramic filter technology which has silver imbedded within the ceramic. It’s important to note that this is not a silver impregnating. The imbedding process is a superior process that will not allow the silver to escape like it does from impregnated cartridges into the water. And that obviously would be bad; you don’t want silver in your water. But you do want the power of the silver imbedded within the ceramic, which causes the filter to be self-sterilizing and bacteriostatic, so that microorganisms cannot live and grow on this filter media. Now inside of the ceramic shell there is a layer of granular activated carbon. Now, granular activated carbon removes a long list of organic and inorganic contaminants, as well as a variety of VOC’s, which are volatile organic compounds. Depending on the quality of your water, it will also improve the taste and odor of that water. If you’re using chlorinated water, for example, which you probably won’t be with this unit, but if you were, it would remove chlorine as well. Now, what you are probably using with this unit are untreated water sources. And that’s the beauty of these Doulton products; you can trust that you have safe water in the holding reservoir no matter what kind of water you put in the top. Water from a river, a lake, a stream, a pond, or a puddle that contains deadly microorganisms is no concern for you when you’re using the Doulton product. These filters are certified to remove 99.99% of microorganisms like cryptosporidium and giardia, and 99.99% of pathogenic bacteria like salmonella, e coli and cholera. Water going in here, no matter what it is, will come out safe to drink below. And this holding vessel holds approximately two plus gallons of water. Simply pour water in the top, and then gravity pushes it through two of these Super Sterasyl elements. And then you extract the water through this simple to use on-off spigot at the bottom here. This is a well-built unit that’s attractive, you can have this on your counter and not be ashamed of it and it will give you extremely safe water that you can trust. And the whole thing assembles in just minutes. Let me show you just how easy it is to put this together. Now, the granular activated carbon inside this filter will be exhausted in approximately six months or 600 gallons, whichever comes first. But if your primary concern is with sediment or microorganisms, which are being trapped by the ceramic outer element, then you will love the reusability factor, because ceramic filters can be washed and reused. In fact, there are reports of these filters being washed and reused up to fifty times. Simply remove it from the filter, under running water take a green Scotchbrite and lightly buff the outer shell until it returns to its’ original creamy white color, then reinstall and your back in business. Again, this is the Doulton W9361122, the stainless steel gravity fed filter system. I’m your host Tony the Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
