GE FXHSC Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with Today we’re looking at the genuine GE FXHSC. This is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a variety of whole house filter housings, including for example, the popular HD950.

Now, the FXHSC is 30 micron, pleated cellulose cartridge. Pleated cellulose is not appropriate for untreated water so we strongly recommend that you only use this cartridge on water that’s chlorinated, ozonated, uv’ed, or that you’re otherwise confident does not have microorganisms living in it, because those microorganisms could live and grow on this filter media.

Now, 30 microns is just slightly larger than a speck of milled flour, so it’s great for large sediment, but if you have fine sediment you should move to a tighter cartridge, something in the 5 to 10 micron range. The cartridge is NSF Standard 42 certified for materials, and GE internal testing has certified the filter for sediment capture at 30 microns. Filter life is going to be approximately 24,000 gallons or three months, but this is going to depend heavily on your unique circumstances. If you have a high level of sediment or if you use a lot of water, you may go through the cartridge faster than the estimates on the packaging. Again, this is the genuine GE FXHSC, and I’m your host Aquaman with Thanks for watching.
