Pentek CW-50 Sediment Filter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with Today we’re looking at the Pentek CW-50. This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 2 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek 158642 that you see here. Now, the CW-50 is a 50 micron, string wound, polypropylene sediment filter. At 50 microns, that’s a very large porosity, making this filter only appropriate as a pre-filter. Now, if you’re not concerned about fine sediment getting through, then it may be the only filter you need, but it’s likely that you’ll want to use other filters after this to remove all the levels of sediment and not just the large particles. This is a large particle filter only; 50 microns is about twice the size of a speck of milled flour. Now, because it is manufactured from polypropylene, it is perfect for untreated water, because microorganisms cannot live and grow on the media because it’s bacteriostatic. And polypropylene is also heavily resistant to chemical attack, making it a great choice for commercial and industrial applications. Now, filter life is nearly impossible to estimate because it’s going to depend on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy load of sediment and you use a great deal of water, you’ll certainly go through these cartridges faster than someone who does not have a lot of sediment and is not using a lot of water. Simply put it in the filter housing, and see for yourself through experience, how long they’re good for or approximately how many gallons they last. Again, this is the Pentek CW-50, a 50 micron, string wound, polypropylene filter, and I’m your host Aquaman with Thanks for watching.
