Pentek ECP1-10 Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with Today we’re looking at the Pentek ECP1-10. This is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 2 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek 158642 that you see here. Now, the Pentek ECP1-10 is a 1 micron, pleated cellulose sediment filter. Now, 1 micron is extremely small, twenty-five times smaller than a speck of milled flour, so this cartridge is going to do a great job of capturing extremely fine sediment. However, it’s only appropriate to be used on treated water sources; water that’s been uv’ed, ozonated, chlorinated or that you’re otherwise confident does not have microorganisms living and growing in it. You see, this filter is not bacteriostatic and microorganisms can live and grow on this media, so it’s not appropriate for untreated water sources. Now, filter life is difficult to determine because it’s going to depend on your unique circumstances. Nothing would make me happier than to sit here and tell you how many gallons this filter is good for; but if I did that, I’d be lying to you. It’s going to depend on your circumstances. Someone who has a heavy load of sediment and uses a great deal of water is certainly going to go through this cartridge much faster than someone without that heavy load of sediment and not using that much water. You simply need to install it and learn from experience approximately how long or approximately how many gallons they’re good for. Again, this is the Pentek ECP1-10, and I’m your host Aquaman with Thanks for watching.
