Pentek ECP5-BB Pleated Cellulose Sediment FIlter Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with Today we’re looking at the Pentek ECP5-BB. This is an industry standard size cartridge, approximately 10 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular HD-950 that you see here. Now, the ECP5-BB is a 5 micron, pleated, polyester reinforced cellulose. The polyester reinforcing simply adds life and durability to the cartridge. It’s just going to last longer and be a better cartridge than those filters that use straight cellulose. Now, because it is a cellulose media, it’s not appropriate for untreated water sources because microorganisms can live and grow on this filter media. So it’s good for water that’s chlorinated, ozonated, uv’ed or that you’re otherwise confident does not have microorganisms living and growing in it. Filter life is difficult to determine because it depends on your unique circumstances. If you have a heavy load of sediment or if you use a great deal of water, you’re certainly going to burn through cartridges much faster than someone who doesn’t have much sediment and doesn’t use much water. You’ll simply need to learn from experience approximately how long they’re good for or how many gallons they last. Now, this is a 5 micron filter, so that’s about five times smaller than a speck of milled flour, so still a good choice for extra fine sediment and not appropriate as a pre-filter. You’ll probably want to pre-filter with a 25 micron or 50 micron cartridge before this one, because otherwise it will get clogged very rapidly with large particles. Again, this is the Pentek ECP5-BB, a 5 micron, pleated, polyester reinforced cellulose sediment filter, and I’m your host Aquaman with Thanks for watching.
