Pentek PD-5-934 Video Transcript

Hey everyone, Aquaman here with Today we’re looking at the Pentek PD-5-934. This is an industry standard size cartridge approximately 10 inches long by 2 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular Pentek 158642 that you see here.

Now, the PD-5-934 is a 5 micron, thermally bonded polypropylene, and that thermal bonding is important, because it creates a more durable cartridge; particularly with regard to the high temperature rating. You see, Pentek’s standard P series of cartridges are only good up to 145 degrees Fahrenheit, but the PD series, the Polydepth series, of which this is a member; they’re good up to 175 degrees Fahrenheit because of that thermal bonding process. Now, the polypropylene is also bacteriostatic, meaning that microorganisms cannot live and grow on the filter media, making it a great choice for untreated water. And, of course, it’s highly resistant to chemical attack, another good reason to use it in commercial and industrial applications.

Now, filter life is extremely difficult to determine because it’s going to depend entirely on your unique circumstances. Those who have a heavy load of sediment and use a great deal of water are going to go through these cartridges much faster than those who don’t have as much sediment and don’t use as much water. You’re going to have to put the filter in, and determine through experience how long they typically last based on your unique water conditions. Again, this is the Pentek PD-5-934, and I’m your host Aquaman with Thanks for watching.
