Tier1 Magnesium Oxide Water Treatment Media (1Cu. Ft./65 lbs)
Magnesium Oxide's high degree of activity and speed of correction allows high flow. The Magnesium Oxide media will have to be replenished periodically if acidic pH levels persist. Note: In certain low flow situations, Magnesium Oxide Filter Media may overcompensate for the acidic condition and create a basic condition. Magnesium Oxide can be effectively combined with Calcite to combine the high flow neutralization properties of Magnesium Oxide, along with the slower reacting low flow properties of Calcite reducing potentially high basic properties due to overcorrection. Corosex can be mixed with Calcite to treat waters as low as 4.0 pH. Up flow filters are recommended unless the water is 5 grains hard. A Minimum of 50% calcite is recommended to prevent cementing. Calcite (Calcium Carbonate) is commonly used to raise pH in residential well water supplies. To enhance the neutralization process, the addition of magnesium oxide may be required. Magnesium Oxide filtration media is used to neutralize the free carbon dioxide in the water supply. Magnesium Oxide water treatment media is used primarily where pH correction is needed to raise the pH levels substantially in a water supply or high flow conditions are in use. By neutralizing the free carbon dioxide in water, Magnesium Oxide can fix red water conditions and render it to a non-corrosive condition by increasing pH levels.
