USWF-CB05-1025 is a 0.5 micron 10"x2.5" carbon block chlorine and sediment reduction filter that is proudly manufactured in the USA. It is constructed of an extruded coconut carbon block covered in a polypropylene wrap.
Activated carbon block filters are excellent filters which improve on the characteristics of GAC (granular activated carbon) filters in a number of ways. Carbon blocks are pressed into a single piece of carbon with a consistent density meaning the water flow is evenly distributed throughout the carbon in the filter. This prevents channeling, fluidization and carbon bypassing that can occur in traditional GAC filters. The consistent density of the carbon block also helps control flow rate and pressure drop through the filter while maintaining contact time with the carbon to ensure excellent filtration performance. Carbon block filters also typically produce less carbon fines than GAC filters, and have the added capability of capturing sediment in addition to the carbon filtration.
USWF carbon block filters are constructed from coconut carbon. Compared to other forms of activated carbon coconut shell carbon has more surface area and a higher density of micro pores leading to an overall greater porosity. The increased porosity of coconut carbon provides increased adsorption and filtration of volatile organic contaminants which is why it is considered as one of the best materials for water filtration. Not to mention that coconut shells are considered to be the greenest most environmentally friendly sources of carbon available. It is renewable, grows year round, and doesn't harm the trees allowing for a sustainable, continuous source of high quality carbon.
This American made filter is a compatible replacement for other popular activated carbon block filters like the Pentek CBC-10, Hydronix SMCB-2510, and more.
Choosing American-made products is a smart way to get dependable quality while also supporting local jobs and the U.S. economy. Manufacturing in the United States follows strict safety and quality standards, so you can trust that the products are built to last. Buying domestically also helps reduce our reliance on overseas production and keeps more business close to home. Plus, with shorter shipping distances, American-made goods have a lower environmental impact - making them a solid choice for both sustainability and performance.
